Bold Shouldn’t Just Be a Font Enhancement

I am not exactly sure how to feel today. A great "change" is taking place in this nation and I fear it is not for the better. Apprehension is perhaps the best way to describe my approach to this historical day. I may be politcally ignorant in many areas, but I do think it sad that this past election became more about the colour of a man’s skin than the heart and person. It seems nearly everyone around me is touting this as a great breakthrough; the tearing down of walls has begun. I do not care what colour your skin is. If you are immorally or politically off par with Christ, then you are not someone I am going to look up to. I will pray for the new leader and will trust God above all, but I just wanted to vent a bit. It makes me so angry to see my Christian friends excited about this wonderful "change". It makes me wonder if they never have actually read about the MAN and just jumped on the bandwagon or perhaps they fear they will look racist since, as I have said, people have made it about colour and not about political persuasion (and just for the record I did not agree with a some of the other guy’s standpoints either). I will note though, that it is nice that there is a black President because it shouldn’t matter what colour your skin is, but if you are not the best person for the job, then that’s different. Only time will tell and I pray that I am wrong, but I really am scared for the world my children will grow up in.

I am not just speaking about the historical switch in power. There are powers-that-be (red, yellow, black and white) who are seeking to blot out the name of Christ from this nation. It is quite disheartening that my rights are not worth anything if I am a straight, white, Christian female. The only thing I got going for me is that I am a woman but I do not buy into worldly feminism, so that’s out the window. Pastor spoke on Sunday about being a bold church. We need to be vocal. I sometimes worry that perhaps I am not being as loving as I could be in speaking the truth but it seems that either way I strike a raw nerve with people. My political opinions and beliefs may not be completely formed, but in most areas (if not all) I will first seek what Christ says on the matter. We are to obey the authority given to us on Earth so long as what they ask of us does not conflict with what the ultimate Authority commands of us.

Oftentimes, I get flack for answering "Why do you believe that?" with "The Bible says…" People want to know what I believe. Well, that is what I believe. Where it is clearly outlined in black and white (and homosexuality, pre-marital sex and abortion are clearly outlined) that is what I believe. My interpretation on other verses may vary slightly, but there are many that are concrete and plain. And yes, there is passion behind those convictions and no, I don’t think it wrong to trust what God says is wrong or right is wrong or right even if I do not completely understand at first. He will eventually open my heart (or I’ll allow Him in) and I will comprehend it with an understanding only He can offer. I do not think it blindly following because I trust my Savior. Sometimes it is easier to trust than others, just like with my parents. My parents were full of "Don’t do this" and "Don’t do that" commands, but I had to believe that it was in my best interest. They obviously had some sort of insight that I lacked. A lot of the time, I found that out the hard way. I am unfortunately the same with God at times.

I guess what it comes down to is I have to be bold for Christ, regardless of where this nation turns and how unpopular I become with supposed friends. Emotions are strong and the fear of rejection is hard to swallow but I cannot let emotion rule my life. I will still strive to be as loving in my sharing of the truth as possible but I am still a sinner saved by grace. I fail. I get angry. I get prideful. I get back up and keep on though. This entry is a bit more disjointed than usual but I hope that I have conveyed myself well.

One last thought: Is there anyone else out there who wants to boldly live for Christ anymore?
