Country Music Aint All About Heartache

"Monday Monday…can’t trust that day."  (If I may borrow from the Mamas And The Papas) Ok, so my apathetic take on Mondays is not so bad, but they are not the favored day in my opinion. It is the beginning of a new week, where if I were more positive and driven could be a good thing. It would be a fresh start to tackle new challenges. However, I simply see it as the day Ray goes back to work and I must adapt to once more being home alone. It’s not that the week-end completely takes me back to the point of having never been without him for a day, but it is this breath of clean air I inhale each week-end that makes it harder to relinquish the time I adore, once again. It definitely makes me realize how much I cherish the moments of curling up together on our loveseat and watching some hokey comedy or laughing histarically as we chat about what’s on our hearts.

This week-end was wonderful. It doesn’t take a seemingly magical trip to New York City, complete with a beautiful Broadway play nor does it take a candlelit dinner to make me truly fall in love all over again. We always come to a wall during the week-end, because Ray has been out all week and I have stayed in all week. Thus, he wants to use this time to relax and lounge. I want to get out and do something fun! Somehow, we always seem to strike a balance. We did our own thing for part of the day. Then, he got fed up with what he was working and said "Let’s go." I get excited when he gets spontaneous. So, we wound up at Erika and Dan’s place. Erika took us out to Wendy’s and then we parted ways. Ray still wanted to make the evening special, so he took me to see Ice Age 2:The Meltdown. I didn’t care much for the first one, but this one wasn’t so bad. It had me laughing a lot. I needed that. We overslept Sunday morning (I missed Palm Sunday ‘sniff’), but I came out and helped him make an interesting breakfast. I had macaroni and cheese while he enjoyed his clam chowder. The rest of the day we lounged and watched movies. Sara Evan’s was onto something with her song Perfect. "Every dinner doesn’t have to be candlelit/It’s kinda nice to know that it doesn’t have to be perfect/…Love can be rough around the edges/tattered at the seams/But, Honey if it’s good enough for you/It’s good enough for me." I smile when I hear that song, because it is very true. If you strive for perfection and having every moment full of sparks, you’re going to be disappointed. If you look for the moments where you just get to be with one another, and enjoy the company of the one you chose to be with, then it’s much sweeter. It’s longer-lasting. I am blessed. I don’t have to think twice about saying that. I love my husband dearly. Hope everyone else was able to find moments to hang onto from this week-end!
