Life was going great!
Life was going well.
There was nothing that was bad,
or negative to tell.
God was at the healm,
and deep in peace I fell.
But life did not stay great,
nor did it continue well.
Our boat was soon prey,
to a rather large storm cell.
The waves they crashed upon us,
oh, how they did swell.
I grasped tightly to the rope on board,
and for the Captain began to yell.
Lightning blinded, thunder deafened,
and under attack I fell.
Anger took hold of me,
as I noticed I was on my own.
There He stood out at sea,
arms outstretched,
and beckoning me!
He’d done miracles before.
And in my life? Certainly.
But, it somehow left my mind,
as I stood there angrily,
grasping on for dear life,
as he still beckoned me.
What made Him think
it safe, you see,
to step out of the boat
and out to sea?
Oh, but in my heart He did stir,
and soon the boat was going down.
A tiny leak had sprung,
and I knew I’d surely drown.
"Just watch me", he said with love,
and I stepped out with quite a frown.
The water was troubled,
but I watched the Crown.
Soon, it seemed a peaceful babble,
and I clung to such Love, renown.
Yet, lightning clapped within my ear,
and I found myself looking down.
It was a long fall, or so it felt
and I knew, surely this time I’d drown.
Somehow in my terrifying plunge,
I caught a glimpse of his shining crown,
and a strong arm reached in,
and drew me out.
Water logged, drenched through,
I felt like some unlucky trout.
Oh, but I was safe in His arms,
and I knew them, I could not do without.
How foolish I had been,
to let go and then to pout.
How hard it was to trust His ways,
even when I know them in and out.
It seems each trial is fresh,
and like a bad case of gout.
I get so mad at Him,
and at times I’ll even shout!
But He has never moved;
It’s me, who’s all about.
How can I see a miracle,
and doubt the very next day?
He has never failed me,
and yet I disobey.
"Keep your eyes fixed on me."
Yet, I look away.
Oh, but what if He fails me now?
What if he lets me pay?
Why must trusting my Creator,
be a new challenge every day?
Stepping out of my safety zone,
and trusting His godly way,
is never really easy.
In His sight I’ll always stay
Crashing waves, howling wind,
rolling thunder, come what may…
He’ll always catch me,
When I take that leap of faith.
