I’m in New York right now. I haven’t been able to say anything about it until now, because we made this trip to surprise my dad. We arrived Friday around midnight. Ray started driving late Thursday night. It was a looong trip but I am so glad to be here. Dad was so happy to see us and of course my mom was too. Unfortunately, we only had until Tuesday. We were supposed to leave today but Ray decided to ask his boss if it was ok to take two more days off, meaning we’d leave Saturday. God blessed us with the go ahead. So, now we don’t have the rush so much. I am enjoying this visit.
Easter was nice. Ray got me up for the sunrise service at his old church. We saw some of our old friends. They were excited to see us. Kristy ran over and gave me a huge hug. After a warm breakfast we headed home. Mom and dad had compiled clues for us to find chocolate eggs and jelly beans. Ray was included. At the end we each got a larger gift. Mom picked out some pretty tops for me from Christopher & Banks (her favourite store). I also got matching flip flops and some cute socks, a basket and lavender scented aloe vera. My parents did a great job picking out stuff Ray likes as well, with help from me on one item. It was nice. Mom and I bonded over American Idol for a bit, then we all headed off to the Vonderheides’ house. I was happy to see Tiffany and her family for the first time in awhile. We had Easter dinner there. It was yummy. However, I was torn between visiting my family and her, because I thought I had less time. Anyway, it was nice and the weather was beautiful aside from a cool wind.
I miss my family so much. It is different to be physically present. I mean, I call them almost every day and chat online every day but it is not the same. To be able to watch something together or shop together and be able to comment on things to the other is nice. Mom showed me how to use her sewing machine so that figuring mine out will be a bit easier. She spoiled me by helping me pick out fabric and patterns on Saturday. Today I made my first sewing project with the machine. It’s a tote bag. I really like it and it turned out well. There is just a home feel I get here. Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know what I’ve been up to. Hope Easter was an enjoyable time for you as well.
