Lovely Papers

Have you ever had someone in your life that you just could not imagine life without? Fortunately, I do have more than one of those people, but I just wanted to tell you what a blessing my husband has been to me. Before he married me, he had a good dose of what I’d be like. Somehow, I could just be me around him from the start. Despite the challenges we have faced, God allowed us to have a beautiful wedding last Summer and I am so excited to see where our lives will go. God truly can write a love story better than I ever could. Honestly, I have never met someone who forgives so readily and loves so unconditionally. He asked me to compile all the paperwork and make a checklist for him, since this immigration stuff is so complicated. As I sat there sticking paperclips on stacks of papers, and trying to figure out what went with what, I wondered how many guys would go through all that for someone. It is going to cost a lot of money in the end, and quite an investment of time, there will be travel and all this other legal stuff, and yet he has set aside any extra money for this purpose. I know he loves me, but it is realizing little things like this that only serves to underline this. I do hope it all goes through, ’cause I want so badly to go visit my family in Canada, and I don’t want anything to come between me and Ray.

I haven’t been to Canada since Christmas 2003. It feels so long ago. I am Canadian, and thus legalities have prevented me from a driver’s license, work, school aid, etc. It’s just depressing to know that if I ever wanted to see an "R" movie, and they asked for ID, I couldn’t give them any. I couldn’t even get a library card!! Anyway, I understand some of the reasoning, but not all of it. It feels as if doing the right thing is punishment:P Just pray that it all comes together for me, and my poor family in New York going through similar paperwork (for the third or so year now). Have you ever seen The Terminal? I don’t know if I mentioned this before, but I sometimes feel like the main character, Viktor Navorski. I am nowhere near as bad off as he is, but I can relate.

Well, I suppose that’s all I have to say for now. Just wanted to gush a bit, and apparently vent:P I HATE PAPERWORK!!! I am so nervous we’ll make a mistake or something and I’ll get arrested or something awful. I know it’s paranoia, but they have all these crazy acceptions and rules. Oh well, I have been praying, and it is in God’s hands. I’d rather have my paperwork in his hands than anyone else’s!!!!
