I guess Christmas is fast approaching. The Christmas tree is all set up and decorated, there are other decorations about the house, and about Florida. However, it just does not seem like Christmas is so close. Where’s the snow? It’s funny how much you grow accustomed to certain signs to tell you a particular event is coming. I can still go outside in a T-Shirt, pants and flip-flops. The most I require is a sweatshirt, on chilly days. Plus, I am used to getting everything together for the holidays, with my family. Without my family here, it feels like Christmas is never coming. However, I am glad they are coming down on Wednesday and I look forward to their arrival on Thursday. It is also difficult to mesh two families’ traditions together. Ray has his memories; I have my memories. Sometimes that can cause some minor turmoil. Still, we are doing out best with what we have. I am sure as the years accumulate we will acquire our own traditions. He sat down with me on Wednesday and watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and it meant a lot to me. That silly cartoon makes much more sense when you’re little, but I will keep watching it each year. I never realized how short it was! We will have to see Rudolph and Frosty too. My parents are bringing down some movies I’d like to see as well (Holiday Inn and Mrs. Santa Claus). Little Women is not a Christmas movie, but I enjoy the Christmas scenes in it, so I had my parents ship it down with my Christmas decorations. Ray and I watched part of it Saturday (we paused it to go play Trivial Pursuit with his sister and her bf) and the rest on Sunday. Oh, the things he does for me! He can now say he’s seen it twice! Anyway, I am kinda saddened by our lack of wheels. It makes it difficult to get stamps to send out cards, or little items you need to round out a gift. My poor grandparents and my Uncle Mark, up in Canada, must be wondering if I forgot about them! ‘sigh’ I just pray God will work everything out. I tend to panic and worry, end up all upset, only to find out God has worked it out. (For example: There was a rather rude lady at the township office in NY where I had to go to get the marriage license. My parents and I went in advance to make sure my ID and such would work. She basically told us, "You don’t have this? Then no. You can’t get married. Sorry." I broke down in tears, and ran out to the van and just stood there feeling lost. Then my dad came out and told me that the head of the building had noticed what was going on, and come to see us. She had a different story. So, I could get married after all. That was such a relief but I was still shaken. Unfortunately, when Ray an I later went to get our license, we had to deal with the rude lady. She knew that we qualified but she was still cold to us…Point is. I could’ve saved myself some tears, if I had just trusted my fervent prayers would be answered, instead of doubting God at the first sign of trouble.) So, trust I shall have to. I cannot operate on my own strength! I’d rather lean on the all-mighty anyhow. Hope everyone else has a blessed holiday. Hope all your plans work out as well.
